Asaki's Turtle Farm
07/27/06: New (kinda) textures!
Looking through
Starbuck's high-res textures (which I highly recommend, BTW), I noticed he redid a few of mine. It's always a pleasure see my textures in other peoples' maps, but I hate to think that most of them are just taken from the QExpo 2001 release of Asaki04 - Base of Two Deaths. There's a wealth of textures I've made since then that aren't being used (and some of the old ones make me cringe), so I aim to remedy this situation:

1,186 la_wad.txt
82,897 la_wad.gif
I searched through all my files today and found every texture I've ever made (though I'm certain a few are missing) and packaged them all up (348 of them!) into eight handy WAD files. The only ones that are intentionally absent are some old Rubbish ones that are completely outdated. I even kept the old non-fullbright yellow lights ;)
I'm pretty sure this is my last update for the QExpo. There's a few things I wanted to release, but never got a chance...I think I made up for my lack of participation last year, though ;) Hope to see you guys again in two years.
07/27/06: Speedmodding!
I just competed in my first ever speedmodding event. I don't know when they'll all be up, but eventually you should be able to go to the
speedmodding booth to check them all out. I'm not really looking to win, though those runes do look mighty fine ;) The theme interested me, so I thought I'd give it a try. Figured I'd be able to hammer my idea out in about an hour...I was off a bit ;)
07/26/06: Other stuff!
Oh my, what have we here?

They could both use a slight bit more skinning work (especially the vomit model, not shown), maybe some skinmap tweaking, but aside from the skinmapping, that might be about the best my abilities warrant =/ Still working on the code. I used to have a poorly skinned one coded, but I can't seem to find it...the recent Romero interview sparked sudden interest in reviving the poor fellow. In the mean time...
844,165 la_tweak.zip
695 la_tweak.txt
A compilation of Deathmatch tweaks I've enjoyed over the years. Some are mine, some aren't. Check the readme for more info.

07/21/06: Slight update!
Pak2 and glTurtle have both been updated with a new gfx.wad. Exciting stuff, I must confess. I've been doing a little mapping lately, doubtful I'll have anything ready before the QExpo ends, though I might release asaki06.
07/20/06: New things!
Finally! The engine you've all been waiting for! Asaki tested, scar3crow approved!
304,758 glturtle.zip
2,402 glturtle.txt
The sequel to my old Turtle engine, using the ever popular FitzQuake080 engine as a base. Mostly developed for my own mods, hopefully a few of you will find some of the features useful for your own personal enjoyment. Check the readme for a full feature list.
639,592 pak2.zip
2,458 pak2.txt
A PAK file compilation of Quake graphical bug fixes, created by myself, Tomaz, and BadMotoFinger. I've been using it for years, but never got around to releasing it. Don't be caught without it!
07/19/06: Old maps!
The
Travail booth is now opened, and the preview is released =)
Here's another download: all of the speedmaps I've ever finished, compiled into one compact ZIP file.

[Asaki] NahkahiiR, Discoloda, AstralSin: This year's Quake Expo is combining all three id Software Quake games. Most of us are unaware of the goings on beyond the realms of the original game. If you'd be so kind, please tell us a little bit about yourselves: who you are, what you've done in the Quake community, any projects you might be working on.
[Discoloda] Asaki: i need job
[NahkahiiR] Here is goes: 23 years old player from Finland, I started speedrunning one year ago and have got over 100 records at the moment (mostly coop). I have participated in one project called The Harvest of Secrets. That's getting all secrets in id levels as fast as possible (deathmatch mode, no monsters).
Asaki's Turtle Farm: always on the cutting edge of QExpo happenings!
07/18/06: Old mods!
I've been digging around lately, and I found some things that I usually keep somewhat hidden. I've been planning on making a new website, but I haven't exactly finished it yet, so here's a few things I've almost got ready. Keep in mind, these are all unfinished tidbits...just little glimpses into the past, really.
1,394,594 axold.zip
3,167 axold.txt
The very first released version of Ax Attack!, I keep it around because it's still my favorite, and actually has a completed level. Once I get my site situated, I'll probably fix the chasecam code a tiny bit.
175,747 doom.zip
2,347 doom.txt
This is an old mod I did back in the day, on Inside3D. It's basically a compilation of patches and a lot of my own work to make Quake a little bit DOOMier. Works well in SP and DM, and I even added FrikBots to it. The source was lost many years ago, as I released it on the I3D forums as an attachment, and had to cut down on file size to get it to fit. The only other thing you really need to know is that monsters will respawn on Nightmare mode.
07/16/06: Hello.
Keep an eye peeled, I'll release glTurtle later this week. Check out the
Travail booth to see what else I've been working on.
